Bishop is elected for a five-year term from among the ordained pastors of the Lutheran  Diocese of The Gambia.

The General Assembly of the Church meets every two years. An Executive Council consisting of

• Deputy General secretaries  of Church departments and  institutions

• Women and youth leaders

• Parish representatives meet three times each year, while an Executive Committee meets more frequently.
